Best Super Bowl Prop Bets – 2016

For the degenerate gambler, the thing that is more interesting than watching the Super Bowl commercials is to follow and make Super Bowl prop bets. In the United States alone, there are more than 110 million people that watch the Super Bowl every year. The Super Bowl is, for practical purposes, regarded as a holiday as people who don’t even like football will sit on their couch among their friends to eat pizza and watch the big game. The high viewership and the fact that many non-football fans will sit into watch the games gives the sportsbooks an opportunity to make the betting fun. So below, I give you our top five Super Bowl prop bets.

This list is in no way organized by the bets we think we would win, but more about which ones are the most clever and fun! Maybe the title of this article should have been “Best Novelty Bets”, but we digress. Please, really, we beg you, do not listen to our suggestions!

Top Five Super Bowl Prop Bets

#5 – Will Mike Carey be wrong about a challenge?

Current Odds: Yes (+120), No (-150)at Top Bet

According to this article by PFT, Mike Carey claims to be about right about 90% of the time. Well, the odds don’t seem to be in his favor as the lines give implied odds of 57% that he misses at least one call.

Our Pick: We have faith in Mike Carey. On the big stage, he’ll pull through. Go with the “No” bet.

#4 – How many times will the Golden Gate Bridge be shown during the Broadcast?

Current Odds: Over 0.5 (-400), Under 0.5 (+250)at Bovada

Super Bowl 50 does happen to be in San Francisco. As an avid sports fan, I can’t tell you the last time I watched a national telecast of the 49ers or Golden State Warriors without a cut over to San Francisco’s most recognizable landmark.

Our Pick: This is this year’s five star lock! I’m taking the over.

#3 – Which team will win the coin toss?

Current Odds: Carolina (-101), Denver (-101)at 5Dimes

Officially the best odds you will ever get on any bet, at any sportsbook. 5Dimes also has -101 odds on whether the coin flip will be heads or tails, and -101 odds if the player who calls the coin toss makes the correct pick.

Our Pick: We are feeling pretty good about Denver.

#2 – What will be higher?

Current Odds: Donald Trump % points in New Hampshire primary (-200), Total Points scored by the winning Super Bowl team? (+150)at Bovada

If this bet was on the board 12 months ago, then the overwhelming favorite would have been the total points. But, who would have guessed that the United States political system would be on the verge of turning itself on it’s own head. We project the score of the game to be 24-22. In a very cool project by FiveThirtyEight, they project Trump to gather about 28% of the vote, but with a pretty wide margin of error.

Our Pick: Getting +150 odds, we are loving the Total Points scored by the winning Super Bowl team pick.

#1 – Puppy Bowl XII – Which team will win?

Current Odds: Team Ruff (-6.5), Team Fluff (+6.5)at 5Dimes

The first question that you may be thinking to yourself would be “is this real?”…well the answer is yes. How will “Paw-ton” Manning handle his likely last Puppy Bowl? On a somewhat serious note, how one puts a spread on a Puppy Bowl is completely beyond any understanding that we have of making odds.

Our Pick: Team Fluff is getting 6.5! How could you not go with the points.
