There are hundreds of sportsbooks that have appeared online across the globe, but we have narrowed down the list to the top 5 online sportsbooks that do business in the United States. The method we used to create this list was to gather information from some of the most well-respected sportsbook review sites on the web, curate them, and create a summarized score for each sportsbook. By combining information from all these web sites, we feel that we avoid bias that any one reviewer may give to one of these sportsbooks. Further, it is important to note that since the legal climate for sports betting in America is complicated that this list is for the best online sportsbooks in the United States only. Bettors in other countries may have more or less advantages to using other online sportsbooks. While we won’t get into the legal climate of betting on this blog, the posting found on Is Online Sports Betting Legal? is a great reference. We started this list back in 2013, and will continue to update every six months or so when new information becomes available. With that, here is the list of the top 5 online sportsbooks for U.S. citizens:
With close to twenty years experience in the industry, Youwager starts off our list in the #5 slot! With a long running history of great service and customer feedback, Youwager has proven that they are a great sportsbook to use.

Even though GTBets just started up their operation in 2011, they have already built a great reputation as one of the best sportsbooks in the industry. GTBets offers their clients a great set of deposit promotions and has a rewards system that is one of the best in the out there. For those out there looking for a solid mobile site, GTBets also delivers. The sleek interface and easy navigation makes betting on your smartphone both fun and simple. Since inception, they have increasingly made updates to improve the back end of their system and we don’t expect the updates to slow down in 2019. There are a lot of things to like about this sportsbook and their reputation should continue to grow in time.

BetOnline has been is business since 2001 so we like to refer to them as the “old man on the block”. This designation does not mean that they aren’t ahead of the curve when comparing them to other sportsbooks. In 2017, they were the first sportsbook to offer Ethereum and Litecoin as options for deposit and withdrawal. They also offer a variety of other options for depositing money (including MasterCard and Visa) and they offer one free withdrawal every 30 days by check. They have an all-around very solid web site and what I think is the best mobile site of any sportsbook out there. I am also a huge proponent for low betting limits and BetOnline fits the bill with a $1 minimum bet online!

Based out of San Jose, Costa Rica, 5Dimes.eu is one of the biggest names in the sportsbook industry. Setting up an account over the internet is extremely simple and their minimum deposit was recently changed to $25 if the deposit is with Bitcoin. 5Dimes has an extensive selection of betting options – Straights, Totals, Parlays, Teasers, Open Parlays, Open Teasers and Progressive Parlays – to name a few. This variety of betting options is definitely what sets 5Dimes apart from the other sportsbooks. Their reduced juice offerings for new players (-105 pricing) is also a huge benefit for the new bettor. Perhaps the best benefit of 5Dimes is that they allow an industry minimum bet of 50 cents which really plays to the non-serious gambler.

With arguably the best reputation in the industry, Bovada shines as our top-rated sportsbook for U.S. players. Bovada has a significant welcome bonus which provides free wagers up to 50% of your deposit. That free bet can be maxed at $250 and it can be used on any type of bet in the sportsbook. Bovada also has a well-designed mobile web site which makes placing bets on the go with your Android or iOS device very easy. Another benefit to using Bovada is their live betting platform. This gives the bettor the abilities to bet on a wide variety of prop bets during a match up. The one drawback that I have with Bovada is that the betting lines seem to come out a little bit later than the other sportsbooks. As long as you don’t mind waiting until the early afternoon to make your bets on basketball and hockey games then you won’t have an issue with Bovada. Taking all of this into account, and knowing that Bovada is very secure and reliable, gives us good reason to name Bovada #1 in our list of top 5 online sportsbooks for U.S. Gamblers.

Our list of sportsbooks that just missed out on making our top five.
Since being purchased by the BetOnline group, the SportsBetting brand has really taken off. Offering an incredible array of futures betting, desirable odds, and a sleek mobile betting platform, SportsBetting is very deserving to have made their way onto this list! Their best promotion is that every deposit is matched with 25% free play, and this is guaranteed for the lifetime of your account. SportsBetting was quick to jump onto the Bitcoin train so depositing and withdrawing money is very quick and easy. Cheap betting limits and reliable payouts are also why we recommend SportBetting as a very trusted brand.

The Nitrogen Sports Sportsbook is a relatively new company that has made some noise as the most popular “Bitcoin Only” sportsbook. This book is unique in that all transactions, bets, parlays, etc. are done in the Bitcoin (BTC) currency. While this does add a level of complexity in that the Bitcoin currency isn’t stable, it has it’s benefits as well. The Nitrogen Sports Sportsbook is completely anonymous and depositing and withdrawing money is almost instantaneous! There is also a great selection of sports, props and match ups that are available.

As part of the 5Dimes family, SportBet secures a great reputation and stands out as the book to go to for great lines! Their Super Saver Bonus gives the player up to 30% better odds than they would get at the average sportbook and this comes as the standard bonus package for the player when signing up. SportBet also provides very early action on all the games and gives some of the best parlay odds in the industry as well. There are also certain payout methods that will get you your winnings on the same day! Really, the only thing keeping this book out of the top five is that you get a lot of the same benefits from their sister site, 5Dimes. But the Super Saver Bonus is not a part of 5Dimes so that is an advantage for signing up with SportBet.

6/14/2016- BetAnySports added to the list. GTBets moves up with new betting interface.
10/19/2015- GTBets up to #4, SportsBetting down to #5, simply on the fact that you get something different at GTBets whereas SportBetting and BetOnline share a very similar platform. Added SportBet to the list.
9/19/2014- SportsBetting up to #4, GTBets up to #5 and Top Bet down to Honorable Mention. This is of no fault to Top Bet, SportsBetting and GTBets have really proven to be a great sportsbooks.
7/10/2014- GTBets.eu is on the list as Honorable Mention. WagerWeb falls off the list completely.
5/15/2014- BetOnline.ag moves up from #5 to #3. SportsBetting.ag enters the list at #5. WagerWeb falls to Honorable Mention from #3.
11/11/2013- Dropped BetDSI from #2 to Honorable Mention because of the cost of payouts is very high and I think their customer service could be a bit better. Pushed 5Dimes up to #2 from #4 as they have been an all-around solid book. Dropped Top Bet to #4 from #3, and welcomed WagerWeb to the mix at #3.
