NBA Player Rankings

The following NBA Player Rankings are based off of a stat driven approach to determine the effect a player would have on the Vegas line of the game if he were not playing and their replacement was a generic sixth man.

There are two things that we try to accomplish here to create these NBA player rankings. First, we attempt to simply create a definitive ranking to value every player in the NBA. The second, is to determine how much of a determent the injury of a player would have on the Vegas line of a game.

As an example, let’s assume Lebron James goes down with an injury and is to be replaced by Michael Beasley in the lineup. Lebron James has a current Vegas line number of 7 points and Michael Beasley is worth 0.5 points. A simple subtraction will tell us that with Lebron not in the lineup that we should see a 6.5 point adjustment to the Vegas line of their game.

There are other factors that will be taken into place that could affect the line, but this should give you a ballpark estimate.
