East Bracket Breakdown

The East, for the second year in a row, is the most competitive bracket in the tournament. Baylor, as the 1-seed, is the slight favorite in the group. However, we wouldn’t sleep on Kentucky, Purdue, or UCLA as they all have over a 16% chance to make the Final Four. Even Texas, at 7.1%, has a pretty good chance to make the Final Four. There are two small upset alerts in this bracket. Currently, Murray State is a slight favorite over San Francisco, however we give the slight edge to the Dons. Secondly, the winner of the Indiana and Wyoming game won’t be favored over St. Mary’s, but could give them a run for their money.

South Bracket Breakdown

The South bracket features about five teams that we think have a realistic shot of winning the NCAA Tournament, including Arizona, who has third best odds in the tournament. Villanova, Tennessee, Illinois and Houston all have a better than 10% chance of winning the South bracket, so we expect a lot of good basketball in this group. The team that is most likely to surprise is Michigan at the 11-seed. We have them as a slight favorite against 6-seeded Colorado State and can see them making a run into the Elite Eight.

Midwest Bracket Breakdown

The Midwest bracket is an interesting one in that it could end up with a lot of chaos. Kansas is the 1-seed and have the best odds to win the Midwest and make the Final Four at 31.4%. Auburn is arguably the strongest 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament and they have a 20.7% chance to advance. A good team to watch out for is the 13-seed South Dakota State. They really should have been a 12-seed and are currently only 2 point underdogs to 4-seed Providence. Consequently, this is a great team and they could easily win a few games to shake things up in this bracket.

West Bracket Breakdown

Gonzaga headlines the West bracket and they have the best chance to win the NCAA Tournament at 21.3%. The Zags have a 46.1% chance to get into the Final Four followed by Duke at 17.9%. As we all know, anything can happen in the NCAA Tournament. Consequently, we think the Connecticut Huskies have the best chance to pulling an upset and making the Final Four (7.4% chance).
